A new study by the USDA’s Great Lakes Conservation Effects Assessment Project, (CEAP), found that farmers in the region have reduced losses of sediment, nitrogen, and phosphorous by employing effective conservation techniques.
Working in the largest group of freshwater lakes on Earth, Great Lakes farmers combined erosion control and nutrient management practices to reduce losses of important nutrients and decrease their movement into associated waterways.
