On Wednesday, March 10th from 12:00 – 1:30 pm EST, the Source Water Collaborative will host its second webinar in its Forestry Learning Exchange webinar series. This webinar entitled, “Benefits of Forests for Drinking Water,” will communicate how trees and forests are a critical component to solving the water-related challenges facing communities, utilities, businesses, and the environment, and that sustainable management is essential for providing a clean and continuous supply of fresh water for humans and the environment.

Kira Jacobs from US Environmental Protection Agency Region 1 will moderate the webinar featuring speakers from two very different states, Maine and Texas – who will discuss the forest and water relationship, why the forest and water sector should collaborate, and provide details about forests and water partnerships.

  • Paul Hunt with the Portland Water District in Maine will describe their successful approach in conserving land to protect the source of its drinking water.
  • Hughes Simpson with the Texas A&M Forest Service will present “the Texas Experience” from a forester’s perspective.

Note: There will be a 30-minute Teams meeting discussion with the speakers immediately following the webinar (links will be provided in registration confirmation).
