Reinforce the Source

A computer programming and design challenge for protecting sources of drinking water

The Source Water Collaborative is challenging the public to help create an online information library for sharing information on contaminants of concern to drinking water.

We are currently in:

PHASE 1

VISUAL DESIGN CHALLENGE

Solvers create desktop and mobile user interface design solutions. Top submissions move on to 2nd phase.

PHASE 2

DESIGN SYNTHESIS CHALLENGE

Solvers synthesize reviews and design features of competitor submissions to develop better interface designs. Top submission selected.

PHASE 3

PROTOTYPE DEVELOPMENT CHALLENGE

Solvers provide structure and functionality solutions for the winning design.

THE PROBLEM

Thousands of pollutants are present in sources of drinking water. Unassisted, States do not have sufficient resources to develop Clean Water Act Water Quality Standards for all priority contaminants in a timely manner, leaving our drinking water sources exposed.
